timing and carb setiings!

A friend of mine has a 400 big block in a satalite and he was wanting to know what size carb to put on it! i told him a 700-725 but what do you think??  also where sould he set the timeing on a 400?? I didnt know so i figured id ask!! thanks Kevin!

I would use a 750 minimum , I prefer the Holley / Demon style carbs
 Mark the timing damper 2 /3/8" clockwise from the TDC mark & set the timing at 36* at 3000 rpm , i would put an allen wrench into the vacuum advance on the dist & turn the screw counterclockwise 8-10 turns first , if it pings at 36* turn the screw a couple turns clockwise & reset the timing to 36* at 3000 rpm
