392 Hemi at SEMA...

Guess what Daimler Chrysler had at SEMA

392 Hemi specs (stroked 6.1)

510 HP
510 Ft Lb
Block: same as 6.1L, different heads
4.055 bore
3.79 stroke
CRATE AVAILABILITY: 90 DAYS!!!!!

The engine will be marketed as a "392 Hemi"

Is it sacrilege to consider dropping one of these in an E-Body?  What do you think guys and gals?

I think you will start seeing more and more of these engines in older restored Mopars.  It is my understanding that they were designed to accept the older style trannies/bellhousings.  Seems as if DC had these applications in mind when the new Hemis were designed.  510/510 is awesome power for a 392.  I wonder if a 426 upgrade is in the works?  I'm just glad they are starting to come out with some new toys. Now if we can just get the "New" Chally built with the 392 as a factory option we'll be getting somewhere...........Oldschool

I figure if its your car you can do as you wish but it might hurt resale valve.
We have had a discussion on this...if it was a 6 cyl or 318 car why should it matter? I say save the special version cars and have fun with the beaters.     cheers      Vin

I'm with ya Vin, don't worry, I'd only consider something like that on a plain jane slant-sixer that you'd build to be a fun reliable cruiser....  and it's not likely that I'll have too many more genuine cars (as opposed to clones) with prices like they are!
