The Bug has an interesting story; it was abandoned on the streets of Tustin CA, in 1982 and taken to the police impound yard. The yard kept her for 12 years, the owner of the yard was going to fix it for his son. The son didn’t want it, so they put it on the auction block (past storage fees) for $3500. The person I bought it from bought it at the auction. He took it apart and then lost interest (go figure) and he held on too it for another 4 years and then put it in a storage facility (public storage) and stopped paying the monthly fee.
This is where I come in; I was buying storage spaces where the owners stopped paying. You can only look in the door, and not go in. When they opened this door the Bug, was the only thing inside, all apart and in 20. I bought it for the grand total of $150 dollars.
When I got it home, it was in great shape, no rust, never hit and after two weeks of unpacking boxes, it was all there it just need restoring. However, that is another story.
Now I would like a Cuda or Challenger, and do it all over again. Taking them from nothing too new is where it at for me, that, and doing the research on the cars history.
