    70, 71 Challenger convertible, what should I expect to pay?

    I have been looking for a nice 318, or 340 Challenger convertible. I have seen prices from the high 20's to over 60k for a restored Clone. I'm thinking 35k is the magic number for something nice.

    You're figure sounds about right. We had a 71 Slant Chally Convert here on the board sell for I think like $30k.

    You should be able to get a decent ride for $35,000. The hard part is finding one !!!! So many small block and six cylinder cars are disapearring and then reapearing with 440 + 6 or Hemi's. When clones are selling for $ 75,000 to $ 100,000 it is worth paying $ 20,000 for a basket case and redoing it into a Hemi clone.

    there is a decent one down here that the guy isnt "selling" but if someone asks he said he would let it go for 27,000. it is a 70 318 dealer demo car with A/C, i think 8 way seat, AM FM radio, all the little goodies red with white interior.

    How about a very nice Sublime 1970 Challenger Convertible with its original 383 engine and transmission cloned into an R/T.  Originally was a 383 2BBL car... does $50K-$60K sound like market value now?

    I found a very nice restored 71 340 Challenger convertible for 33k, will be have it next week.

      Hi,  I guess you never know! I was in Johnson Ks. about a year ago. I was hunting parts for a 1973 318 challenger rust bucket. I ran across a guy who said he had some parts and mentioned he had a convertible 1971 challenger 383 car he would sell. I forgot about the parts I was hunting and asked him how much he wanted? He replied,"I think it should be worth around $10,000. He and I went to look at it, I expected to see a shell, the car was all there! I went to the bank the same day got cash, didnt haggle the price and DROVE it 100+ miles home. So I guess you never know! Good luck and happy hunting!

    Although they made less of them, the '71s tend to go cheaper than the '70s.  Prolly b/c '70s had such cool paint colors (sublime, panther pink) and the grille and taillights are of a cleaner design (I like the dashpad too better).

    340 Challys will be at least 20% higher.  I wouldn't turn down a 383-2 'vert either.  Rare indeed.

    Key is to fine one already restored (someone else's loss; your gain) unless you want to spend more time restoring it than driving it.  But find one w/lots of pictures during the resto.  Don't want a bondo bucket.

    Good luck.  The Challenger 'vert, although not as crazy priced as B'Cuda 'verts, are the 2nd costliest Mopar so whatever you get won't be cheap.  You cannot deny their good looks:
