Hey Loc8tor, when is the last time you saw anyone searching for a numbers matching 318 Cuda? I really don't think it's a big deal to modify a 318 car and it isn't even a big deal to modify a an original big block car either. I'm sure a nicely done 440 or Hemi Cuda will bring more than a numbers matching 318 car will. Just keep the original stuff and you will always have the opportunity to convert it back to the way it was. Just do what you want and have fun doing it!!

Excellent points!

Very true, since it's a '73 and the choices are A, B, or C (I didn't see a D anywhere), you seem set on only these three choices.  If you go with the S&M car look and do the occasional blast down the drag strip, are you going to ditch the 318?  If I had a car that looked that wild I would want something under the hood to match.

Unfortunately, the '72-'74 E Bodies don't have the value as the '70-'71 cars :crying: (I have a '72) so #'s matching is good but not as good as if it were a '70-'71 car so I don't think it's complete heresy to modify the car as you want.  Regardless of year, modify as you wish.  Your car!

If you go small block, an AAR type car would be real cool.  Love the hood on those cars!

If I where you I would choose option A ( + pinned on AAR hood and side exhaust though )

Right

And if you do the AAR thing to it don't forget to paint the top of the fenders black all the way to the top of the quarter panel as well as the hood.

Only a chickenbutt puts the black only on the hood  :shakehead

The AAR Cuda is My all time dream machine. But If it has a fender tag decode it. It might be a nice looking late model cuda back in stock trim. Thats what I did , take a look and think it over. Good Luck!

73cuda2, NICE CAR!
If any of you happened to get/pick up the december issue of "MOPAR", I think its from the Dealer, it has in the" readers rides" page 33, a 73 cuda light blue, white top/stripe and interior. Looks good, but then again Im partial to white guts.  I guess thats what my car would look like but it has dk blue interior. My upholstery guy has a whole roll of the blue vinyl in the correct grain and it looks a little metallic.
If I go the AAR look for the moment Id use the twin scooped hood I have and later buy an AAR hood, leave the 318 in it(it has a nice lopey cam in it, and a holley st dominator/afb), till a 340 came along. If I go with bill boards they'd say 340, and again Id let the 318 in it till a 340 came along, or could throw a 440 in it and usee 440 billboards. However if I were to go with the S&M look, Id go 440. Maybe throw dual quads on it, and I would use as much "period" go fast goodies I could find, a set of "Keystones", maybe some "Road Huggers" I can get them locally but now they are in radial form.
Had a friend tell me a few years back he saw an article where an aftermarket company was selling "hemi" heads that went on either 340 or 440s, that too would be cool, but I imagine also very pricey.
Thanks for all the input so far.

The sox & martin would look pretty cool how many of those do you see running around? You should set up a poll let the guys vote, Im doing that with my 1970 challenger convertible. Yellow with black stripe or black on black thats my poll. The black is winning! Oh also i have one cuda registered that was a 72 with the billboard strip. Pretty rare!

Hey Loc8tor, if you were going to go to all that expense, you can buy a complete plug and play hemi now for around 7500.00, by the time you go with hemi heads and build that 440 you'd probably be close to that anyway. Although, I would bet the 440 setup would kick but on the stock 5.7. Just more food for thought and my  :2cents: !
