windshield removal?

 I need to remove the front, and rear glass out of my Challenger. The last time I attempted this on my R/T S/E.....smash (lesson learned). Although that was so long ago I don't even remember how I cracked it (I'm sure I wasn't doing it correctly, duh)
 Annyhow I stopped by the local glass dealer today. When he heard what kind of car it was he said he didn't even want to touch it, or get involed. After I told him all the windshield trim was already removed as well as everything else, he said he'd do it for about $20 each ($20 front/$20 back).
  My serious concern is that he said he could most likely get the rear glass out with no damage, but he said he could not make no guarantees the the front windsheild would not break??? WTF??     Is this normal?
 If that's the case I'll make an attempt myself(much more carefull this time though)     Any advice?     Thanks all

They usually say that to cover thier a$$ but you should be OK and the windshields are available and not too expensive anyway.I`d call a few more shops and find someone who is more willing to to an old car.The windshield and the rear glass are installed the same and niether one is more difficult to remove than the other unless it has been filled with urethane to stop a leak.If you do it yourself you can use wire and just go slow and carefull.

Thanks guys, I think I might just give it another shot. I"ve got plenty of extra guitar strings lying around. I mean how much damage can one idiot do?   Appreciate the advice Torred

I thought it was a tough job also and should only be handled by the pro's. But I ran out of patience waiting on my window guy and ended up removing the front glass myself. It really isn't that difficult and I did most all of it with a utility knife and a thin bladed putty knife. Just take your time and don't pry on the glass with any stiff objects. You can tell when it is cut loose from an area as the glass flexes a lot.

Im thinking of doing the same thing, but i have to make sure that I can store and protect the glass once its out of the car. 
Anyone have any suggestions?  Ive reserved a few old pillows and some packing tape and a space high above the floor, will that be enough?

i removed mine by working a small blade putty knife all around the frame to loosen up the sealer, then with help fished piano wire between the glass and frame. using a sawing motion, go slowly all around the glass, then push it out. As for storage, with a 2x4 and some large diameter dowel ros, make a "U" form that the glass will set in, cover the dowels and 2x4 with old carpet to protect it.  Alway stand your glass on edge and place it out of the way andd dont let the kids play catch in the shop

 Well, I started to do it myself, but apparently I am still a bit gun-shy. I kept having flashbacks of the last Challenger windsheild that I broke . I think my car is subconsiously telling me not to be a fool...........again. So F-it. I think I'll listen this time
 Plus, the wonderfull New England winter is upon, so maybe by spring I'll get up the :jump3: :jump3: to do it myself. Plus I'd really hate to bust my rear windshield, That peace sticker is as much a part of that car as the motor is to me

I would do it on a warm day or inside for sure , the windsheild is no big deal but the rear glass is tough to get in good condition
