70 chevelle
« on: March 30, 2006 - 01:14:49 AM »
I go every thursday during spring and summer to a local ice cream shop for a nice little car show, we have about 30-60 cars that show up weekly, so its a good show for just being local.  Well anyways theres a fence that lines the road from the front of the ice cream stand driveway. All the spectators sit on the fence and wait for people to do burnouts as they leave   Well there was a rather nice Red with black stripes 70 chevelle with what i think was a 396 if i can remember right.  Well hes got the DOT slicks for his rear tires, and he wants to show off so hes first one that night, he pulls out and stops in the road, and lights them up about 1/16 of a mile...only to be pulled over by a police officer waiting not more than 200 feet down the road, which EVERYONE can clearly see   dunno if thats considered a kill story but im sure it killed that chevy boys pocket book

yea that does suck. Not a kill story, but a 'Got Owned' story  sucks for the chevelle guy, bummer now that you guys will have to worry if there is a cop lurking there everytime you leave the mini show  :villagers:

Sad . . . . but true.   If you smoke them on the road, sooner of later, you will get caught.

I had that happen to me in 1973 with my black 71 Cuda with a built 440. Did a burn out and when the smoke cleared there were two 440 powered 72 Polara's with the big red round lights on the roof right behind me. Being a lame brain 17 year old kid I decided to try my luck and see how far I could get with them behind me. One thing I learned that evening about cops in big cars that are watching a car pull away from them at a high rate of speed... Is they don't like to slow down for turns and bleed off their energy. What they learned about energy that night also taught them about how much fencing two Dodge Polara's could take out in a sideways motion. The bad thing for me was that I had to keep that car out of sight for a long time. I bought a 69 Charger R/T for $250.00 with a bent left lower control arm. Went to the junkyard, got another and it was a fine car.

Some cops dont care though. Some are enthusiasts, and those guys are cool. Although they PROBABLY should do something, im not going to complain. :cooldancing:
