I saw a bare TA 340 6 pack block and heads go for around $4,600.00 a couple weeks ago.  I thought that was kind of high for a block that needed some work done to it before beginning the rebuild. (One of the pins on the top had a stress crack that preceeded to the outside lip of the block.)
