Would like to change my column shift to console shift
« on: December 20, 2005 - 11:05:18 AM »
Another thing I would like to change on my 71 Challenger convertible, is remove the column shift, and make it a console shift automatic. I just can't get use to that void between the two bucket seats.
Has anyone done this, and how difficult?
Thanks

you need a console , floor shifet & the brakets to mount both , + the linkages & a column without the shifter collar , it is a realtively easy swap , the hardest part is welding th4e braket to the floor in the correct place

......also, the provision for the linkage to go through the tunnel is there. They marked it out in the factory.
So you just cut the circle they have already pressed, out and it's in the correct position.

Just in case u need some parts. I would have the brakets and some shifter parts for this swap. I have like 3 set of brackets that u weld to the tunnel, I also have a complete tunnel cut out, So I could send u a pic and get measurements for u too. contact me at  mopar_maniac68@yahoo.com
