If you could break this down to something less technical it would be a big help

Stage 4: 3200-6500 RPM
The Stage 4 cams are racing cams designed for street high performance and limited circle track and drag strip racing use. They have a rough idle quality with significantly improved mid to high range torque and power over stock cams. Works best with modified engines with compression ratio of 10.0-1 to 11.0-1. Headers, dual exhaust, 4 barrel carburetor, 3.70 to 4.60 gear ratio, and 2500 stall converter required. Significant vacuum loss to be expected and may be to low to run power brakes and accessories normally.

The cam is an Elgin Pro Stock . Also how would this cam be for street use only?� Can I� use 3.55 gears or should I go bigger since it will be street use. Engine is a 440 10.5 to 1 compression� and I am running a Holly 770 cfm� Street Avenger.

230 @ 050 doesn't sound too radical as the MP292/509 cam is 248 I believe. I ran that cam on the street in a 383 with no problem. My guess is that 230 deg duration is as much as you can run with stock heads and 3:55s assuming you have headers and a good intake. The rpm range of 3200-6500 is a bit of a concern though. For the price of a new cam and some gaskets though I would get what matches your requirements. Perhaps Chryco can add to this. Just my $0.02.

Definatly better cams out there , this is a slow ramp cam & seem to have a fair amout of overlap which narrows the powerband & makes it idlel poorly, this cam is designed to be kept in a narrow RPM range to work best
for comparson the Engle K58 also has 230* @ .050 but only has 276 * advertised duration + it has more lift @.520 & a wider powerband from 2000-5800
you will need 3.55 gears minimum & I doubt you will really like the ca on the street
the other problem I see is the 770 cfm avenger is too small for a 440

Hey, thanks for the replies. I will be asking more questions later on as I get into the car more. I don't like this cam and will be looking for a good street cam later. This is my first BB Mopar, I have always had SB but i am finding out that they are a world of difference
