convertible conversion

    Hi, new to the forum, and was wondering if anyone had any idea where I could find information(if there is any) on converting a hardtop 70 'cuda into a convertible?  It would be during a total restoration, and would like to try it if possible.

Here is a link to a website that has some parts for convertibles. I have been to their place and they were converting one when I was there.  They may have some info or be able to answer some questions for ya!  Hope this helps!

This place has done it but the way it reads, they do their own cars and then sell them and don't do customer cars.

Thanks, Looks like so far all they have is so far is latches and visor rods available.  Wonder where they are getting all their other parts.  I know they can't be cannibalizing REAL convertibles.....lol :banghead:

You might already be aware, but the most difficult aspect of this conversion is installing the structural members inside the rockers on the convertibles.  Convertibles also came with the front & rear torque boxes (as used on Hemi cars).  Torque boxes are availabel repro.  Without the added strength in the rockers, there will be more cowl flex.  But if you have a really rust free car, it may not be too bad.    :cheers:   :working:
