I have the same problem. I have a Edelbrock RPM manifold that most recommend, however I am told my air cleaner wont clear the hood unless I use a drop base. Then I wonder if I cut up my air cleaner will the drop base come into contact with the side of the carb cause I gonna run vacuum secondaries. I read where you cut out the center of the stock cleaner and drop it an inch and half approx and weld in. I am flustered as to keep this manifold or go with the Holley Street Dominator. I dont like the idea of cutting up an original stock cleaner but may do so.
