Rusty Roof Repair

Does anyone have ideas on how to fix rusted roof panels?
My project car has rot around front and rear glass and some small holes a few inches forward of the rear window that someone has filled with bondo. I have a donor car but the the roof on that car has been used as a trampoline by someone and has some creases in it.
I,m affraid to do to much welding on it in fear of warping it.
Has anyone welded around the windows safely?
I'm thinking of repairing it with fiberglass on the inside and outside but I'm concernd about the longevity of a repair like that.
Ideas anyone?

I had the same issue as you, rusted right on the lip, making it incredibly hard to just make a simple patch.  I found a donor roof that had a few dings and pounded them out and then drilled out all the spot welds on both roofs and swapped them.  Works great but its a lot of work...its really the so called "Right" way to fix your roof to get the best resistance to rust.  Also before i put the "new" roof on i sprayed from Krylon semi-flat black "Rust-Tough" paint on the skeletal frame just to keep it from rusting.

I just patched mine with some 18 g. sheet metal.Weld a little at a time.I had a bunch of small areas to do.

Hi. My roof is welded v e r y carefully...weld + air weld +air wled +air and seams are tinplated. No problems!
