Flat Black 71 Cuda Please
« on: January 10, 2006 - 01:19:03 PM »
I was hoping to see if anyone had a 71 cuda with this color.  If you've seen the movie A Series of Unfortunate Events you'll notice the car in that movie is a black that is not shiny/glossy, but it has a sheen to it.  I was wondering how they got that type of black and how they made it sheen.  Its almost like they took a flat black primer and then clear coated it.  But I would think the clear coat would give it the 'shine' and not the sheen.  Anyways I was hoping to get some pics of 71 cudas with a black color to them.

Thanks

Nah the car in the movie was not mopar...  I was just giving an example of the color I was looking for.  The car in the movie had that color.  I have no idea what kind of car that was in the movie

One way to make a true satin black would be to take 1500 grit wet dry sandpaper and scuff out a painted black car. It would make a billion tiny scratches but if you got them all going in the same direction it would look pretty cool

Maybe you could get the flat black that they painted the tailpanels with and paint the whole car

Or you could paint it primer black, sand it down with the 600 grit and then wax it. It wouldn't last forever but it would look evil for a while  :villagers:  cheap and reversible

I gave my paint guy the code for organasol to paint this T/A hood.  Came out beautiful.  Weeks later he tells me he didn't use the code, painted it black and used a flat clear on it.  Couldn't have come out nicer.
