392 Hemi Oil pan Seal
« on: January 12, 2006 - 01:28:19 PM »
I have a question about the rubber seal for the oil pan. Does the V face of the seal go towards the pan or the engine. I have some pictures. Also on the timing gear what is that angular plate for off the cam? I'm running a roller on it now.

The angular plate is to direct oil to the timing chain, I'm assuming for oil that seeps around the cam retaining plate from the front cam bearing. I'll have to get back to you on the pan gaskets, I'm not sure and need to check on that.

Thanks guys! I would suppose that the flat side goes towards the pan and the grooved side towards the motor but can find it in the book.

I was running late this morning when I responded. I got a chance to check on the oil pan seals, and the grooved side goes toward the timing cover and main cap so your assumption is correct.

Thanks Heminut! Its going back into a 58 Imperial Convertible. Apparently, the car was once owned by Don Garlits.
