elastomeric bumpers?

I'm gonna show my stupidity here.... what are elastomeric bumpers and how do they differ from regular bumpers? ???

they were rubber coated bumpers & had a slightly difeerent shape & were painted body color available fro both Front Rear & Cuda & Chall

On the rear was the bumperette things suposed to be body color as well, or chromed. Like on my car CP, I seen everything body color and some that are colored bumper, chromed bumperette.  BTW i'm not sure bumperette is the right term..lol.

bumperettes is the correct term
good ? on the color though , I think they were chrome ?

Are they something that was unique to certain year models, or 'Cuda's and not Barracudas ect.?

front bumpers are far more common , only available in a few colors in 70 , 71 had more color options

I always thought the bumperettes on cars with elastomeric rear bumper where chrome, but the red cuda that was sold on the Barret Jackson auction and used for the advertising promotions back in its day, had them painted the same color.  This car did go through a restoration and maybe they screwed up?
