Distributor Choice
« on: January 18, 2006 - 08:52:51 PM »
I'm humming and hawing about which way to go on the distributor for my 408.  I like the idea of a stock looking ECU and the lower cost of an MP unit.  However I like the adjustable mechanical advance of the MSD but not the price so much.  Does anyone know how much mechanical advance is built into the stock MP units these days?  Any thoughts?

the new MP units are as adjustable as the MSD with an allen screw adjuster on the mechanical advance plate

Are you sure it isn't an allen screw in the vacuum advance?  I ordered one today anyway so I'll see.  I'm hoping your right as welding and machining the slots to get the right mechanical advance is a PIA.
