rack and pinion vs. firm feel
« on: January 21, 2006 - 02:53:43 PM »
I've seen some Mopars that had rack and pinion put on them. It looked like a lot of work to convert them. My question is: Is it worth all the effort to convert it to rack and pinion? Or does firm feel power steering just as good a feeling steering wise? I have always wondered if this was worth all the effort.

the rack & pinion systems I have looked at have never solved the spindle problem, the Alter K Tion uses Mustang spindles to correct the problem as is the only system that should work properly
Firm Feel is a Good alternative

Albet, easier too. Sounds like the only real advantage is under area acess.

I got my gear box rebuilt 2 years ago by steer and gear and went with the firm feel rebuild. It feels great and wish I would of done this years sooner as my wife even enjoys driving the Challenger now. It was a easy removal and install. It feels very close to the rack and pinion on my Status RT and I really like the way the Challenger steers now.
