Dodge Ram exhausts ???
« on: January 26, 2006 - 05:26:06 PM »
I looked at a `97 2500 5.9 extra cab with a plow today but it needs an exhaust system and a few other minor things.I`m wondering what is out there for aftermarket exhaust systems and what kind of money.Anyone have any experience with any certain brand,Flomaster,Dynomax.....?Cat back or full system?I`d like something with a little rumble but not too obnoxiuos-I`ll save that for the `cuda!

Let's see if I was you I would keep it a Single Outlet Exhaust. I would go 3" all the way back and use a decent sized Magnaflow Muffler so it won't be obnoxious but, it has a nice rumble to it.

When I had my 95 5.9 Ram I installed a dynomax cat back system, sounded great except when I pulled my 5th wheel. Running out of O/D at 2100-2200 RPM was quite loud over a period of time. It sounded great at any other RPM, but the resonance at that RPM did get rather annoying on a long trip. My V-10 has stock muffler and is fantastic how quiet it is.

I agree with JS...i'd put a muffler or something with quiet inside noise because dads dakota had 2 1\2 in pipe back to a glass pack split to 2 1\4 in duals and pullin a load from iowa to ok.  it got really really old ....spinnin 3000 rpm it was rather loud in the cab...and now i've got that same setup on my 4 wheel dakota and its not bad for around town driving and sounds awesome...
