same reason you fall in love

you just do

there was an employee on my fathers farm when i was 15, kept telling me about mopars. I didnt know a thing about them before that. his buddy had 2 challengers, drove one up while he was there, but i never went to look at it close. But i heard stories about it, and kept looking online and learing about them. lhmopars.com was one of the first sites i looked at alot. Then i stated looking at the barracuda webring. I wanted an ebody to start, but found a '68 in the paper for $600, got it for $450. i've had it for 5 years almost, got it torn down but college has been using all of my funds so far so i havent gotten anthing done on it but plans on how to build it. So last summer i bougth a 70 dart swinger so that i have one to enjoy and dont rush the Barracuda so it will get done exactly the way that i want it to.

I graduated in 1964 and was driving a Chevy (52 model) that my Dad had bought me (so I could pay him back of course), but an older brother of a girl I was dating had a new 65 Satellite, 383 4 speed. After I got out of school I bought for my self a 64 Sport Fury, that was my first Mopar and corny as it may sound Mopar has been the breath and blood of my life as far as cars go ever since, yes I've owned other brands but nothing equals the old Mopars, some of the new ones are just fine, but there is just something missing, something just is not the same as far as the emothin and effect they have upon you. As Larry has said, it's the passion that they instilled within you. Then you go to Carlisle and it's just a time warp of emotion and memories. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet !  :clapping:

My best friend had a 72 cuda.  I loved that thing!  He turned me onto 74 duster that I couldn't pass up.  Wasn't the cuda, but It was Mopar!  Our other buddy drove a 64 sport fury 383 sleeper "grandma car"  We were the only Mopar guys in High school, so hence forth everyone refered to us as the "Mopar Boys"  And we walked proud of the title.
My dad hated Mopar. (chebby, chebby, chebby is all I heard) He had a grand prix w/455 that he swore would kill my 318 stock duster.  Well one night after picking up my dads boat, I mean grand prix, me, my buddy and  the cop found out that big ol 455 anchor just couldn't even come close to my wee 18  :burnout:  My dad didn't find out till many years later!  I've been mopar ever since!  What else is there??

Oh yeah....My dad only drives Dodge trucks now!

I wasn't looking for anything mopar.  Actually, my first classic was a 1959 Chevy pickup.  (Actually my first vehicle!!)  I sold it after finding out that I didn't want to drive it daily.  I sold it and then got a piece of crap car for a while and then started driving newer trucks.  My brother's first car was a 66 Impala SS, that after he went to college, I completely restored with my dad and grandpa.  My brother ended up going into the CAP program and then worked for Dahmler in Detroit.  Along the way he bought his 69 Charger.  After I graduated High school, I was looking for "my car".  My mom has a 65 Rustang, my dad claims the 66 Impala and also has a 57 Bel Air.  I didn't have a car and was looking.  About this time, my dad told me about one of his old high school teachers was diagnosed with Alzheimers (sp?) and they had to sell her house and cars.  She had a car that had been sitting for about 10 years.  I went to look at it and saw what condition it was in.  (Really bad)  I didn't want something that needed that much work.  My dad then told my brother about the car but he didn't want to get rid of his Charger.  After a few days, I told dad that "I guess" I would buy that car.  Then I was told that her grandson wanted the car.  I knew that I wouldn't get it now and started looking elsewhere.  I got a call from my dad about a month later and he told me that the grandson didn't want the car anymore.  I had my checkbook out before I hung up the phone.  I can't believe how stupid we were that we were about to pass up one of the coolest cars in history!!  It makes me want to puke thinking about if I actually didn't buy this car!

I have three older brothers and they were in to Fords and Chevies.  My oldest brother had 63 Ford with a 406 w/3 dueces and a 4 speed, my other brother has a 66 Ford Fairlane GT with a 390 4spd.  The last one got involved with 55-57 Chevies.  They all were very special cars and kinda wish I had them today, but that's not possible.  When I was in high school my first car was a 66 Dodge Charger.   I wanted to be different and that's why I went Mopar's.

Rare, small, lightweight, maneuverable, simple design, easy to work on, looks mean, easy to build hp, tough drive train, on and on and on.

Here's one:

I don't know if anyone's been to musclecarclub.com, but they have a list of the 50 fastest muscle cars, though they don't follow their own criteria, because they declare that corvettes are not muscle cars because they don't have a back seat, but they include corvettes on their list of 50 fastest muscle cars.

If we're true to the definition of muscle cars, at least as they define it, you might find it interesting that Plymouth accounts for 33% of that list, and Dodge accounts for 14%...or MOPARs account for 47%, basically half.  So, 1-in-3 of the fastest muscle cars were Plymouths. :) :)

All the others (Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, Mercury, Oldsmobile) are fighting for scrap percentages by comparison.

Long live the Cuda.  Cheers.

I used to do Pontiacs and my friends did Mopars.  They always won and I always lost
They went faster and I always broke... Rearends, transmissions, rods ect

One time I threw the front of the crank out of the engine....

Hi OldSchool,
Love the fastest car list, but noticed one thing odd:

Being a Cuda lover, I used ctrl-f on the page to find each Cuda, and saw that they had 70 Cuda 440 6-pack that ran the quarter in 13.0 seconds, and a 70 Hemi Cuda that did 13.1 seconds.  I don't know (shaking head).

But I loved getting the info there on that 68 Cuda.  Wow!

Its funny for me because a mopar was the lesser wanted alternative to a GM on two seperate occasions then I finally got on the bandwagon.  When I first started driving about 4 years ago and needed a daily driver I wanted a box Nova, but little did I know that they had become rather expensive and out of my price range for anything decent.  Anything under 2 grand was a rot box so I ended up with a 69 /6 3 spd dart.  I used that for a daily driver for awhile then I got an 85 Z 28 because I wanted a more modern daily driver and I sold the dart.  Then came time when I wanted project classic muscle car.  I wanted a 64 or 65 GTO, but again anything that was in my price range was a complete rotbox so I ended up buying a 71 383 Challenger.  Then I was hooked on mopars and bought a 73 Barracuda.  Now the Challenger, Dart, and Camaro are gone and I have the Barracuda, which is almost done and a 98 Cherokee for a DD.  It took two failed atempts to get a GM and 2 E bodies, but I am finally hooked on Mopars.

Too many projects and nothing gets done.
