RIP, 'Dyno' Don Nicholson
« on: January 26, 2006 - 01:42:00 PM »
60's & 70's drag racing legend 'Dyno' Don Nicholson passed away earlier this week at the age of 78. A lot of us 'older' folks who followed drag racing in that era remember him well. RIP, 'Dyno' Don.

I used to enjoy his racing and the cars he put on the track.  We have lost a true pioneer in the sport.    :angelwings:   :walkaway:    .....Oldschool

TeeWjay426,

Thanks for letting us no about Dyno Don.

Drag racing lost a great person and I will truly miss him.    :crying: :crying: :crying:

I remember the first time I met him at Pomona drag strip in Ca in 1977. It was Sunday night after a long weekend of racing in which he won the pro stock championship title, (his one and only in pro stock) and he was packing up to go home.  We asked him for his autograph, he stopped what he was doing and not only signed our stuff, but took the time to talk to us for about fifteen minutes.

We will miss you Don Nicholson, and your family will be in our prayers.  :angelwings:
