Header help!PLEASE!!!

Alright I already know that TTI is the best but I just can't afford $800+ for headers and still get my car on the road.Soooo,what kind of experiences do you guys have w/heddman,hooker ,thorleys,etc...I've got a 440,9.75-1,mp.528 cam,3.91's,3000 stall,going in a 70 challenger r/t.Super bowls back on so I'll check back later,oh ya 1 7/8" or 1 3/4" primaries,does it make that much of a difference for a mostly street driven car?Thanks in advance!Matt

of course TTi are the best, I have hooker comp, and I like them just fine

I have cheap hedmans on my car and I honestly can say that I hate them. They leak, dont fit well, and required welding. If you cant afford TTIs then get something with a one piece thick header flange so it at least doesnt leak. Didn't help you out a ton, but I ruled out cheap hedmans :icon16:

I've been back and forth between thorley(1 3/4 primaries,3/8flanges,14 ga tubes),heddmad elite(same basically but $200 cheaper),or hooker competition(1 7/8 primaries,5/16 flanges,16ga tubes).I dont know,I'm to indecisive.1 3/4 or 1 7/8????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? :feedback: :1zhelp:

1-7/8" with 2" collectors sounds about right.  :thumbsup: Can you just save up to get some tti headers?  :dunno:
Worth the wait and this way you'll get the best and only do the header shop once.

Rather than buy "make shift" or "OK" ones then some tti headers a year later.....

I have used Both Hookers & Hedmans , so all I can recommend is Thorley ..Maybe , the rest suck

The thing the Thorleys had going for them were the thick flanges and tubing,but I'm not sure how big of a difference the 1 3/4-vs-1 7/8 primaries would make

With your combo, you'd be better off with 1-7/8" primaries. Hooker Super Comps are your best choice.

 :iagree:  The super comps are just 200 cheaper, so maybe you could hold off a little while so you can get the best for your car.

For what it's worth I bought the Mopar Performance headers for my Bee and the fit was ok with no banging, but they leak like a sieve.  This is after 3 sets of gaskets and other assorted tricks.  I am yanking them this year and buying a complete 2 1/2" TTi setup with the X pipe to the rear end.  Way less headaches.  Hell i might just clean up the HP manifolds and put those on...
