Front bumper brackets
« on: February 09, 2006 - 07:46:31 PM »
Was just wondering what's the norm for the front bumper brackets as far as prep, and painting is concerned. I'm in the process of cleaning mine up, but noticed some type of undercoating, and also paint (overspary?)  :dunno:
 Thanks much for any info

Thanks Chryco, I've been blasting them, but when I seperated them it was a bit "scaley"  for lack of a more accurate word.  :dunno: where they were connected together. Any advice for my next step? Completely remove all the rust?  And as far as powder coating them, a great idea, but I do not have access to a powder coating facility, so I'm hoping to finish these myself  :1zhelp:
Please excuse my stupidity  :eek4: :icon16: :eek7: I am bit in the dark still when it comes to "proper" body work technics.   Thanks man

I'd sandblast them first , etching primer then Rustoleum . At least then they'd be safe till you're ready to use them...hey , just my 2 cents... :2cents:

it is common for them to build Scale , deteriorate between the 2 brackets , but you need to completely strip the rust
Eastwoods has a small powder coat system & you need an oven but you could coat them yourself
