The Crazy Cheesehead Signing on to another Bat Station
« on: February 14, 2006 - 09:45:23 PM »
I hate doing this new person stuff. Anyways many of you may know me from other boards that i am on as The Crazy Cheesehead. I am a 23 old guy in Wisconsin with a 69 340 formula s fastback barracuda and a 68 383 formula s 4spd fastback barracuda. Umm at the moment both are in storage because i just got back from the Navy even though it was a short enlistment due to heath issues. All is better in the heath department or at least it is healing up good now. Well anyways i suppose I should explain why I am the crazy cheesehead. Well with the 69, after i got her home and started pullin her apart people where like dude just junk the motor and get a new one because it looked like the titanic used it as a boat anchor. After tons of debating with myself i said the hell with all the advise i am going to get the engine fixed about $3500 i now have completely redone lower end sitting in my garage waiting for me to finsh her. She also needs alot of body work that most people would have been like screw that. I wish I had access to some of my pictures but at the moment, but I am having computer issues with one of my computers. The 68 is a all original numbers matching as far as everyone can tell that has looked at it. Still have to go pick her up this summer. Bought the 68 from a friend out west.

I am in Milwaukee, Wisconsin home of Miller Brewery. When the wind blows right you can smell the yeast all over town. [Rant] Oh yea and the million dollar statium that doesn't work, thanks to out sourcing the project to japan. [/Rant] Well guys both the 69 and 68 are a bit beat up. Both need work, unfortantly the history of the 69 is pretty much lost up until i bought the car. I know it changed about 4 or 5 hands before i got a hold of it. It came from Jersey, it was sitting in a car port with the passanger side exposed to the wind and weather, and it shows it. Original block and tranny. A 340 that has sence been bored .030 over and all eight cyclinders have been sleeved due to scratchs from frozen pistons, new connecting rods and pistons. I have had it for about 3 years now, work on it on and off as i got time and money. At the time that i bought it I was still in college and used my uncle's garage to work on it. She needs alot of body work done to her. The fenders need replacements, which i found this last year at Iola's Car Show, which is still a bit crazy of a story about those. The 68 has the colorful history. When she was bought back in 68, she was used as a drag car, ran hard and fast for a few years up until 1970 or 1971. Parked in the same place until a buddy of mine JPL bought the car from friend of his who had started to restore/rebuild her but got put on the back burner because he found a different car he wanted. JPL then bought the car and start to restore it, then he got a different project and sold it to my Friend Dana, who helped my out a lot when i was first looking at A-body cudas. Dana bought it because it was his dream car, a 68 383 Forumla S 4spd Fastback Barracuda. Dana decided to sell her because he didn't have the time or money to sink into her and he wanted something he could rat rod and had a friend with a 36 dodge bisness coupe that was for sale. He put the word out he was selling the cuda and didn't really say why, so i called him found out the skinny and i really couldn't pass up the price of this puppy. The 383 still turns over and fires up really nice, it has been modded over the years. The original cam is long gone. Still got to go pick her up this summer and needs a paint job badly. Here is a bunch of pictures of the '68 that my friend JPL has up on his website http://www.jlpaasch.com/cuda.htm

Welcome to the site, CrazyCheesehead!  As stated, I too am from Wisconsin. (currently at college at UW-Platteville, but I live way northeast, Florence.)  It sounds like you have some cool A-bodies to work on.  I see you go to Iola's swap meet, too.  I've gone a couple times, but there's usually a conflict with other shows during that weekend. (Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals)  Anyways, enjoy your stay here and be sure to post some more photos of your cars.  Don't feel bad if you think they look rough; most cars started out that way here, so don't feel bad.
Oh, and you should definitely make a trip to Aloha Automotive, Inc. in Port Washington and take some pics of their projects in the shop. :picture:  They work on mostly Mopars, with majority of them being E-bodies.
