440 paint job
« on: January 22, 2006 - 01:27:42 PM »
Hi all!
We painted the beast last week.
Let me know what you think of the color, it's a little too red for my taste, but it's growing on me.  We set the tri y's on it too, I can't wait to see it in the car!

I like being bold with colors, but knowing if it will look good in the ride depends on the color of the car.
What color is the car and will the engine compartment be painted body color or black?

crc - its on a b5 blue with black engine compartment.  I need to finish the black after I get the 318 out.  I didn't paint the oil pan b/c I ordered a center sump.  I'm putting the water pump, fuel pump, and all of the other "xmas" presents on this weekend!  Ill send more pics as I go.

Sounds like it will be a beautiful sight, like the automotive equivalent of a ruby in a Tiffany's box when you pop the hood. Can't wait to see the pics.

What brand are the headers and do they come ceramic coated? By the way love the color especially with after market polished valve covers with color accentes.

The headers came from Schumacher creative services.  I bought them with the engine mounts to swap in the 440.  They don't come ceramic coated, but mine are nickel chrome plated.  Schumacher was very helpful with any other questions that I had about the conversion, too.  I'll let you know how they perform after I get them in.
