Anyone have the g-tech performance meters? if so do they work well? heard they were good and it would be interesting to see things like horsepower ratings and all that.

well from what i ahve read and if i understand it properly, there is a thing inside that passes through 2 plates which are connected to teh sensors and it measures the g forces as it passes through and thats how it measures your accel, and tourque and all the fun stuff.

I have no experience with the new G-Tech, but I did have one of the old ones (it was very plain-jane without as many features as the new one, and just a little bit bigger than a tic-tac box). The old unit was quite accurate (within .10 of the clocks at the strip) and it always read 2 mph faster than the strip on a 12.0@110 car. I will say this about the mph reading though it was consistant- in other words even though it read a little high it was always high-not all over the place. I will buy another one when I get finished building my current project.

Yip, everywhere I have been have had nothing but good comments about it.
I've only seen one guy say he sent it back and not for performance or in anger but because he couldn't find any long enough 1/4 stretches and leave room for braking + the unit makes you speed, so be careful.....

I bought one about 1 1/2 years ago. It works great and is helpful in final tuning. The bad part is when taking horsepower reading they are a little of because of wind drag and friction of the road. My GTO  dyno was 520 horse, 620 ft lb torque on the local dyno at the tech collage. My g tech had a reading of 502 horse and  611 ft lb torque. When I ran the quarter at the track it was very close the the accual time (few tenths). Also on horse power readings you start in 2nd gear and at about 2000 rpms stand on it to get the reading which is hard on an auto that wants to downshift.
