« on: February 20, 2006 - 12:51:00 AM »
It's not an E Body So I figured I post it here.
It's Rusty, Dusty, and a little bit Crusty
It still needs a ton of work, I'm just waiting on the $$$$
When everything else is done I'll be painting it Black.

Nice Duster for a project. I still love the looks of the Dusters. I had a 72 Twister 340 but sold it as I thought it would take to much to restore it a 2nd time.

Nice Duster. It reminds of one just like it that raced a motorcycle on Ringwood Ave in S.J. and beat it back in the 80's.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
I started building this motor about 23 years ago when I was 17. I'd just buy a part here and there as cash allowed and store it away. Since I moved out by myself at 18, I found out how hard this was going to be real quick. Finally years later I had everything.
Back then there wasn't all the killer parts that are available now for Mopars, so There's a few things I'd like to change now that I have better options (heads, rods, more cubic inches LOL), but that will have to wait.

NZ, It's a 383 with 11.5:1 pistons, MP 590 lift 312 duration Solid lifter cam, Ported 906 Heads with oversized Stainless steel Manley Pro Flow valves, Titanium retainers, Pro Parts headers, Milodon Gear drive, Nitrous Oxide, and the block and heads have been studded.
The connecting rods are 383 Rods that have been shot peened, polished with high strength rod bolts.
The 727 Trans has a manual Only Reverse pattern Valve body, 4500 stall torque converter.

The cars an Original 70 340 Duster I bought as a roller for $500.00, minus sharktooth grill which came from my old 71 340 Duster.
It's too bad the car is so butchered, it would of been fun to restore.

The Duster came with an Alston 10 point cage, a 3" spring relocation kit, 8 3/4 rear, sub frame connectors and some very poorly installed mini tubs. It also came with the factory Go Wing
It still needs a firewall since the previous owner wanted to put his Big block right under the dash!
Before I ground it off, The motor plate was welded right across where the front shocks mount! That wasn't going to work for me do to no leg room (I'm 6'5) and a tunnel ram that would be sticking through the dash and windshield!!! LOL I don't mind a little engine setback but not if I have to drive with my knees behind my head!

It's going to be backhalfed, with 15x15 Weld Pro Stars on 33x21.5x15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pros, an Alston 4 Link Pro Link, and Coil overs, which I already have taking up way too much room in my garage, especially the tires! LOL
I still need a Dana, then once the chassis is all done and dialed in, I can just forget about it.

That's a mean looking machine for sure!   :burnout:  You are took a shot down the 1/4 mile with it?   :cooldancing:  ...Oldschool

Yes Old Shool I plan on racing this at the track every chance I get!, but it will also squeak out on the street from time to time.

We'll get together someday.....
Definitely, your right in the next town. and summers coming.
