Dana 60 Rear
« on: February 19, 2006 - 03:46:40 PM »
OK...another part stashed since the early 90's.

Dana 60 rear than came out of a B-body in a junkyard sometime in the early '70's. My friends dad bracket raced a car with this rear in the early to mid '70's up in MN. Fast foward to 1991 when my buddy was building his own drag car. He had the rear end narrowed to 47 1/2" (BP to BP) and set up for ladder bars with ladder bar mounts welded on (so yes, the spring perches are gone). Ladder bar mounts are spaced 24 1/2" center to center. There was a 5.14 spool in the rear, which was traded for a 4:56 LSD unit. New axles and bearing were also installed. The rear end and gears was set up professionaly by Terry Fuller of Cross Ram Performance in Florida. Don't know if he's still around. The car was never finished and the rear was never used. The only casting number found was "80" on the pumpkin.

I don't know the specs on an Ebody Dana. Maybe this thing is still wide enough? My friend is a total dumb @$$ for narrowing a rear end that likely came from a Hemi B-body. What a dork!

If you can use this setup, shoot me a note. Not sure what it's worth. He will part the center section if he can't unload the whole axle housing. Taking offers. I'm not an expert on rear ends  :roflsmiley:, but I would expect that a fresh LSD for a Dana should run north of $500?

Again, if I'm smoking something, give me advice on pricing. It's not my money!
