Stock or Not to be stock?

Guess I'm another 12%'er here too.
I remember these cars when they were new, and even bought a few of them new.  I want my cars to be the way I remember them from back then, and I try to get them as close to that ideal as possible. 
I was not one of the guys who drove the car home from the dealership and immediately tossed out the stock wheels and tires and threw a cam in and headers on.  I figured the factory knew more about designing these cars than an 18 year old kid, so I left them as is....flaws and all.

The trick is to have multiple cars to fulfill your needs if you can appreciate the different aspects.   



I voted for the stock look, performance enhanced.

anyone can have a car restored or modded with all the goodies you can imagine. 


I think theres a lot more effort, time and rarity in a car that is original down to the last detail.

I think that it all depends on the condition of the car.  If it not complete and you don't have the orginal engine, then do what you want.  If  it is something special or you have a complete car then try to keep as close to stock as possible.  I like to have upgrades to the cars we own since they are 35 years old.  I don't see any reason why you can't make it they way you want.

Funny how within everyone's vote I find myself agreeing with just about every comment made.

1. If it is close to being complete and stock, lets take the extra steps to make it just like the day it was new.

2. If you can't see the mod, like something in the motor, trans, rear-end, lets do it and it will look stock but go faster.

3. If it is mostly not stock, I.E. Motor, trans, dead interior or different body parts. Make it into anythin you want, nice one off Mopar ne1?

Bottom line, everyone's vision is just that, it is their vision. Life is short enough, in the end you are the one that has to live with your choices and you might as well make the ones that are going to make you happiest in the end.
