The entire job cost me $ 315.00. That was for 2 mirrors, remote control knob for mirror, acid-dipping and copper-plating everything prior to chrome plating. Don't know if they were triple-plated or not. When I dropped off everything, I told them that the mirrors were for a show car, and they made a note of that on their work-order, so I imagine they went the extra mile to make sure the mirrors looked great. And they do!

Great price...do they have a website...or did you post that before?  What is the shipping address?

May send my D_O_D_G_E hood and tail panel letters since the repops are out of stock everywhere.

70RT:  Great to hear you had a good experience w/ Badger.  I had some trim pieces (Cutlass) rechromed by them last year.  They stuck to their price quote, but it took them four months to finish some hood trim that was quoted at 5 weeks.  That's because they damaged the piece, repaired it, rechromed it and never told me about the repair.  I didn't see it until after I installed it.  At least yours turned out nice.

Yes.  Don't let them do anything long and narrow; they ruined my hood trim by excessive heat from too much polishing to remove pits.  If you have pitted parts, don't bother.  Otherwise, the smaller pieces they did were quite nice.

They don't repair pitted items?

I assume then that 70RT's mirrors were not pitted?  My mirrors have several pits on top of the mirror housing.

Does Nuchrome repair pits?

Whatever you do and whoever you go with, just be very sure you understand what they tell you about how they will repair pitting.  They  do re-chrome pitted parts.  Pitting is just like rust, it results in the loss of base metal.  Minor pitting in open, flat areas can generally be sanded/polished out and filled with copper.  Deeper pitting usually requires the acid copper process which is more expensive.  It requires filling, polishing, filling, polishing until the pits are filled.  Similar to the primer surfacing preparation prior to paint.  All of the polishing throws a lot of heat at the parts.  In my case, the trim piece was a 5 ft. hood spear that was very narrow and had pits in places that were very difficult to polish.  It resulted in loss of definition of the surface and warping.  The plating itself was great, but they ruined the part.  I don't think you will have this problem on the tops of the mirrors.  Mark your parts before you send them in, too.  Hope that helps...

Thanks for your suggestions GCC!   I'll get them on the phone and drill them for details on the restoration based on a description of what I have.  I need to find a place quick so I can get them back before car show season starts up.

Yes, my mirrors were pitted also, and I had Badger Plating do the acid copper to fill in the pits and porosity. The extra cost to do the acid copper on the mirrors was about $ 110.00.

Wow,
Did they phone you after they got your gas cap? I was given a job number when they got my mirrors, so I could call and get an up date if I wanted one. They quoted me 8 weeks, but it only took 5 or 6.

  Mike

No they have not called I e-mailed jack in Novembe and he said they got the cap and he would check on the progress. I have e-mailed several times with no response. I will try to call .

Got estimates from Pauls Chrome and NuChrome for side mirrors....

Pauls: 225.00-250.00 per
NuChrome: 125.00-175.00 per - asked it that was for "show chrome" and while he did not say yes he went on about how they did quality work and have been doing these for years.

Heard good things from both places. Couldn't get Pot Metal Restorations in FL to answer the phone.
