Paint guns, which one do you prefer?

There are so many out there. What's a good deal and paints well yet doesn't cost 4-500? Those 20 dollar units,... has anybody ever had luck using them before? Or save them to just prime with?

i wouldn't shoot anything but primer with a 20 dollar gun.  I use Devilbiss, they are a higher end paint gun but they do have some cheaper models that are more affordable and still do a pretty nice job.

I just bought the DeVilbiss StartingLine gun set from my local painters supply for about $135.  I comes with a standard HVLP and a touchup HVLP gun, and two tips for the standard gun, one for high solids primer, and a finish tip.  I also comes with a regulator and cleaning tools. I love it, especially when you use the ziplock liners, which allow you to turn the gun upside down. I have used cup guns and pressure pots, but this seems to use a lot less paint, and there is hardly no over spray.

For paint and clear only DeVilbiss. For primer I have a cheaper gun.

I was on the Smartshoppers looking at the guns. Why do you need extra tips? and what are the different sizes for and do? Do they change the pattern?

This was a gravity feed primer gun.

The different tips are needed for the different types of paint that you will be using.  High solids primer will need a tip with a bigger hole, since it is much thicker and can be built up more than a topcoat paint would need.

Also the smaller tips will atomize the clear better for a smoother finish with high solids clears.

They are not cheap but I am using two SATA's, one for color and one for clear. Awesome guns.
