    3-spd tunnel same as 4-spd?

    Hey kids...

    I found a stripp-o Challenger with a slant-six and three-speed stick.  Obviously, that drivetrain would have to go.  Question is, is the trans tunnel on a 3-speed stick the same as on a 4-speed, meaning a swap to Tremec would not be a problem?  Or would I be welding in a new trans tunnel?

    CudaCharlie, a four speed should fit in the same place as a 3 speed stick.  I haven't done it myself on an E-body, but I know several A-bodies that have the swap and they all worked.  I'd assume a Challenger will too. :thumbsup:

    They are the same. My R/T SE was originally a 3-speed and now has a 4-speed in it. In fact, I just did a 3-speed to 4-speed swap last summer on my dad's Challenger. All you should need is the actual transmission and the shifter assembly.
