Intake Swap
« on: March 08, 2006 - 08:48:47 AM »
I was wondering about swapping my plain jain perfromer intake to a Holley Street Dominator i got with a 400 core.

The motor is a low compression (around 8.2:1) 30 over 383 with KB 162's, larger port 906's that have been cleaned up, a XE 268H cam with 224/230 duration @ 0.50 and .477/.480 lift, and a 650 Mighty Demon.  The car is a 71 Super bee (around 4k in weight) with a 727 (around 2700 stall) and 3.91 gears on 15" rims.

This is a 90% street car so low end is a concern and i am a bit concerned about going to a single plain, but i have heard such good things about this intake it might be worth a try.

What do you think?

You may lose a bit of bottom end snap, but a big block swap is so easy, it's worth a try.

I agree with that...the reason i ask is that i am not adverse to obtaining an RPM which I believe is the right manifold for my needs, but i have this SD sitting on the bench now collecting dust and i was curious if it would be too much of a mismatch to be worth it or am I better off just shelling out the dough and getting the RPM.

OBTW I have a 1" phenolic 4 hole spacer on the car now.  Should that go on the SD too?

if you have room the 4 hole spacer should increase the resposiveness at the c arb & help low end power , but the SD doesn`t kill the bottom end entirely as it is a small runner design

Cool,

So it sounds to me like it is a go.  I'll give it a try in a month or so once the weather warms up.
