Power Brake Booster Question For 71 Cuda??
« on: March 14, 2006 - 11:30:37 AM »
I have just taken the power brake booster off my 71 Cuda 340 to refinish it and replace a leaking master cylinder. The booster, I think, is is a Midland-Ross type as it has a band holding the two pieces together.
My question is what colour should I use to refinish the brake booster?? Some people tell me that semi gloss black is correct and others say that a colour called "cadmium gold" is correct???
Can you actually buy a paint called "Cadmium gold" and if so do you know where??

As usual thanks one and all.

Woody,

I have a 71 cuda with a 383 and I have a Midland Ross booster which was originally dichromate gold plated.  I sent mine to Booster Dewey in Oregon for restoration and it came back like brand new. All new parts and a beautiful new dichromate plating job just like it left the factory.  When you remove your booster look underneath the old gasket for telltale signs of the original color but I would suspect it is the same as mine.  If you need it restored professionally I would highly recommend these guys.

Hope that helps,  Ed
