OEM VS Aftermarket

As I rebuild the Challenger I have decieded to use OEM parts to keep the original feel to the car. In doing so my trunk lid will cost about double what a repop one would cost but to keep the clean lines and feel of the car I will wait if I have to and purchase the correct items. With all that is said about misfit panels and such I have stayed away from aftermarket items.

Do you have a preference Aftermarket or OEM

I try to use as much OEM as possible, but some OEM stuff is not available.  This requires me to look elsewhere to get the stuff I need to complete my project.      :cooldancing:      ....Oldschool

That's a tough situation. If you have the $$$, then of course, OEM will be your choice. Often times though, like you said... it will cost you twice what a repop would. It's all in how deep the pockets go.

Some of the repop stuff is pretty good, but a lot of it is crap. I guess it depends on if I've seen the repop piece I'm looking for. If I've seen it or someone recommends it to me, I'm not adverse to buying repo stuff. Nothing like buying NOS or OEM...just the $$ can out a real hurtin on you, and like Oldschool said, sometimes you just dont have an option.

OK, personally i prefer to use OEM parts as much as i can because nothing seems to fit like the originals. Exceptially when dealing with body panels and fenders. I am sure everyone would agree on that. but on the same hand when it comes to the engines, Some times new is better. Like using new lightwieght pistons to free up a few HP, etc...  :bigsmile:

Got to be OEM for me. Repop only when new not available.

I prefer OEM but it is not always easy to come by. Alot of the aftermarket parts are made to a higher standard than the orignials were. Just my 2 cents.
