Challenger space saver spare??
« on: March 12, 2006 - 07:10:49 PM »
Was the space saver spare available for 70 Challenger R/T's.  If so, were they only avail in 14"?
What would be the correct #'s on the rim & tire?  (BF Goodrich E-78's?)  Thanks, Buzz.

Yes, they were an available option on all Challengers. (Required on convertibles and cars with 15" wheels.  No part number on the wheel. they had 6 holes and either 7.75x14 (early) or F78x14's.  Both were BFG's.

THANK YOU!  You saved me from making an impulsive wrong choice.  The space saver on eBay is advertised for a 70 E body, but doesn't have 6 holes or look like yours.  It'd be nice to find one before the Vegas show.  I'll keep looking & thanks again.   Buzz.   runbuzz@sbcglobal.net

Lots of wheels are 250 wheels (they are stamped with the p/n), which looks similar to the '70 wheels but the date codes will be 6 or 7 ('76-77)  some sellers have even gone as far as drillling the 6th hole and changing the Goodyear tire that was on it to a BFG.  The 250 spare which was used on the F bodies are a $12 wheel at the JY.
