2006 Hot Rod Power Tour.. anybody going?
« on: March 20, 2006 - 07:12:11 PM »
Any Body going to cruise in the Power Tour this year?  I'm in St. Louis, Missouri and I am driving Thurday night headed to Kissimmee, Florida. Anybody want to meet up and caravan down? I'm trying to meet up with Rob Wolf and the gang from Mopar Collector's Guide, if they go again this year, to drive up the east coast to New Jersey. It's about a thousand miles there, a thousand for the tour, and a thousand miles back.  You can get info at Hot Rod's site here: http://hotrod.com/powertour/          Plus the whole tour can be joined and left at any leg.  I went last year for 2 legs and had to jump off to be home for my wife's back surgery,  but picture cruising everyday with 3500 cars of all types flying to the next stop.  I've had my car for 26 years and paid a cool $1000 for it. I added Power steering brakes, A/C, power door locks and everything else below.

I setup my car for FLYING, 70 Hemi-Orange RT with an edelbrock fuel injection, Cruise, tilt, A/C, 833 overdrive and 3.55  posi. almost completely stock looking.  Here is a pic of me in last year's tour. Nobody laugh at me now, but I don't seem to see any of your pics with your cars.  I also attached a picture of the new Challenger, that I took when I went up to see it at the Detroit Auto Show.   The 2nd pic was too big and won't upload

More about my car:
I forgot to say that I have a 440 with Hooker 1-7/8" headers and a .484 purple shaft cam and 4 speed that gets 20 mpg if I don't turn on the A/C. The fuel injection is computer controlled and runs off of an O-2 sensor once warmed up. I can cruise at about 80 mph at about 2200 rpm. I decided to put in the overdrive after wanting to shift all the time after hitting 4rth on the highway. It just seemed like I needed another gear. I put in the fuel injection after getting tired of smelling like gas after driving my car all of the time. I had to have it set a little rich to get it to idle just right. So now with fuel injection, even when cold, I start it up and drive, without having to wait for warm-up and engine dieing because I left too soon.
If anybody wants to meet up anywhere on the POWER TOUR my cell is 314-283-4683.   Rob

MoparMatt, we should be pulling into the  racetrack in Englishtown on Friday. Call me if you want to park with the MOPARS!  (that's if I or my car makes the whole trip)

Power Tour was a goal for me this year, since it passes very close to home but after getting my ride back from the defendant, it looks like I won't make it this year.  At least not in the Challenger. Can I drive my 04 Ram?  It's got a HEMI! :naughty:

Hot Rod's power tour has Every kind of can that you can picture.  There were old antique cars, Jay Leno's Toronado, brand new cars, EVERYTHING IS WELCOME.   Bring the 04 Magnum!  Look at the Hod Rod Power Tour's  past photos and you'll see everything. It's for people that are into cars even if they don't have a classic car.
