k frame and suspension questions
« on: July 19, 2006 - 09:36:41 PM »
So I pulled the k-frame from the hardtop 73 cuda and am now installing it back in.  I want to make sure I do everything right and was wondering is it possible to mix the two of these up and have them on the wrong side??  Or doesn't it matter.  Also looks like I need to source the sway bar bushing brackets??  And ideas's??

Never really thought about if A-arms are the same on both sides but after looking at your picture I am pretty sure they are different. Reason being is that the ball joint looks to be geometrically incorrect. Also it looks as if the bumper stop is on the right and the flat pad on the A-arm is on the left, where it does no good....

I dont know of any places to get the sway bar brackets, but I heard they are relatively easy to fabricate and weld to the control arms.

I'm with Killer_Mopar on this one, Dave.  I have labels on mine just to make sure nothing gets switched around as it definitely looks like that ball joint is not geometric with respect to the spindle/steering knuckle. :-\

Looks like the Paddock may have the brackets.   :clapping:

Are these the same for the front and the rear sway bar??

If you get the torsion bars on the wrong side, you won't get any adjustment out of them. You'll crank them all the way up and the car will still be too low.

Front & rear Sway bar links are different lengths, the bushings are different sizes & diameters to fit the sway bar.  I measured my originals & ordered Energy Suspension bushings & links from Sumimit Racing. Will post pics & part numbers if you need.  :bigshades:

If you can post the info for the rear sway bar I will greatly appreciate it. I have been piecing together a rear swaybar system for my challenger and all I need are those links ;)

How do you tell which one is for what side??  I didn't know they were different.   :dunno:

I had a feeling they were wrong . . . :banghead:  The powder coater installed them and I just assumed they were on the right side!  Hope they're not too difficult to change.   :walkaway:   Had a hell of a time getting them on to begin with!   :stomp:

I have my old ones from the rear sway bar and I can give some info if you need it.  Let me know what you're looking for!   :2thumbs:

The torsion bars have a number on the end of them, the numbers that end with an even number ie 2, 4, 6, 8 are for the passenger side, the one ending with an odd number is for the passenger side.

:eek4:  I really couldn't understand why you answered that way until you showd me my goof. I couldn't figure out why when I tried to help that you made fun of it.  :eek7: LMAO.
Oh well, you at least knew what I thought I meant, even if I didn't know that what I said wasn't what I meant to say. Savvy?
Now you should understand what I meant.
