    engine numbers

    hey guys on my engine it says D440 and underneath that it says 2 and  5... what does this mean obviously the 440 is the size but what does D mean and also the 2 and the   5 mean ???thanks guys

    D is 1968
    E is1969
    F is 1970
    G is 1971 and so on

    My guess is the 2 5 is means it was cast Feb 5th
