About 10 years ago, I started collecting Die Cast Challengers when the first 2 offerings came out. Since then, I was selective, and picked up some very rare limited edition cars thru a buddy who owned a shop and could order them special. Although I had to stop buying a few years back, cuz there were just too many, and some range well over $100, a lot of the ones I have had never been out of the box, and still have the wrapper on the hood and doors. This past weekend, for my birthday, my father-in-law bought me a shelf for a room in the basement I am turning into a work room. I plan on building a workbench, putting my tool chest in there, and all of my MoPar stuff. I couldn't wait any longer, so I just spent this evening in the basement putting the shelf together, and organizing the cars. I thought I would share the progress so far. The pink T/A and purple R/T (both in the centre of the shelf they are on) were the first Challengers cast (well, not THE first, but were the first production run. Since then, the T/A was re-released with a fully blacked-out hood, to make it correct). On top are the three Vanishing Point Challengers. The middle one is the first release, limited to 2,500 and came with a broadcast sheet. Behind them are the 1:24 scale VP cars, also. (please ignore the messy floor..clean-up is in progress) On the floor are some Johnny Lightening Challengers and Cudas, and limited release 1:24 T/A's in pink and bronze. Many of the Chargers were 2,500 limited release, as were the Orange and Yellow R/T's. Keen eyes will see the Super Bee and Daytona hidden among the pack.
