Got some NOS Cuda exhaust tips last weekend
« on: April 01, 2006 - 06:11:18 AM »
Picked up a set on NOS Cuda Exhaust tips in their boxes at a show last weekend.  They cost quite a bit and would need to be modified for a 2.5" exhaust so wondering if I should go ahead and use them or are they pretty rare and I shouldn't mess with them or maybe move them on?  Interesting thing is how rough the welds are on them.

I am in the process of replacing my exhaust system now. In searching for exhaust tips I have seen them from $302.00 with tailpipe welded on from TTI-$290.00 from Paddock--Accurate exhaust $175.00 with 2" od. These are all stainlees steel tips. Were originals SS or chrome? Do you have pictures of originals you can post, I would like to see if the back side is straight or is there a bend/angle to go up and over the rear axle.

NOS tips are chrome with mild steel pipe running into them. I'll take some pics tommorow night and post them up.  Still wondering on price of NOS tips?

I purchased these bad boys off eBay...they are stock appearing but have 2-1/2" inners.
I got these from a guy on eBay. If your keen on the tips.....

Enter: "Challenger exhaust tips" on eBay to find out because I can't remember his name.

Are you sure they are NOS.  That term is used pretty loosely these days.  They are more likely reproduction items.  You can get adaptors to go from smaller sizes to 2 1/2".

Matt, it sounds like he got NOS.....picked them up at a show.  ;)
If it were eBay, then NOS would have been dodgy.  :-\ That should be a new term: "eBay NOS"  :lol2:

Tips came sealed in boxes with Mopar labelling etc so I'm pretty happy that they are real.  Quality is bad enough to be real anyway ;)

LOL!!!!

I know what you mean about NOS quality.  :screwy:  I bought a NOS tailpanel for a Challenger S/E. I'll just say it must have painted on a Monday morning, or late on a Friday.  :pullinghair: I love it... but I expected better for NOS.  :o

Yeah I'm just tired of seeing just stamped in China parts sold as NOS. (not that I am unhappy about such a large quantity of repro parts being available these days)

Yip, the worst ones are the ones that say they are "NOS" and have 20 listings all with the same photo all at a low price for "NOS" pieces they usually sell the door handles like that.........

Ok, got some pics of the tips.  Seems they are from 1993 - not sure why I didn't notice this on the day, probably show excitement/fatigue.  They are a bit tarnished but will clean up Ok - not sure how long they will last on the car though being mild steel.

OzCuda,

If it were me, I'd sell the NOS (hopefully at a profit ) and buy the right size Stainless ones for a lot less.

:iagree:  Just so you know, the tips from TTI have "TTI" ingraved into the tip.  So if that is something you couldn't live with then use the NOS ones.
