torsion bar problem

building a 72 challenger, on the weekend i lowered the front suspension by the torsion bar adjusting bolt.To get the front height almost even the driver side bolt is almost all the way out were as the passenger side is a quater of the way out .I have super stock springs in the back.I know that one leaf is stiffer,  and the rear is slightly tilted. Could this cause the difference in the front suspension.the car is not drivable right know so I have time to correct this issue.Also when I lift the front of the car from the k-frame, the driver side tire leaves the ground way before the passenger (with the torsion bar settings the driver should be way lower than the passenger).what could be the problem?

sorry I meant the passenger side tire leaves the ground first.

Loosen both bars all the way to the point of almost taking them out, then compare the flat spots on the hex end. If you pull them out, you will see if both bars are to the point of just barely being able to get them into the holes while jacked up all the way. Both should be equally "almost lined up" If not, One of the bars may have been changed and is for the other side (like 2 left bars or 2 right bars).  I bought a challenger once that had the bars swapped from side to side and didn't have any height adjustment.   Another Chall I just bought has one side cranked all the way up that the adjuster arm is dug into the bottom of the frame. I'll have to pull them to fix it. Some people should stick to Chebys.

There is a rubber bumper that the upper control arm will bump on top of when you lift the car. check the drivers side, it is probably broken off and not there.

The SS leafs can tweak the front suspension  you should be fine

my concern is the the front end geometery may be comprimised because of the difference with the two adjuster bolts. the front end is all new (torsion bars ,left on left side right on rightside,ball joints tie rods strut rods)Also when lowering the driver side the passenger side height was affeceted.I've done some research through my challenger service manual and it explains when strut rods and the front end hanger for the torsion bars(adjustment end)are installed,they should not be torqued untill ride height is set.the front end was put together months ago but i did not have my wheels to set the height till last weekend.so the front end was all torqued up before and the height had to come down 3 inches.I figured I could loosen the strut bars and torsion bar hanger,level out the adjusting bolts ,settle the car and then adjust the height (hopefully this time no problem) then torque everything down.

Challenger1970.  That link above discusses what I was trying to say. Your bar may be one hex (flat) off. Unload the adjuster all the way out, pull the bar out of the front, align the lower control arm to the next flat spot on the bar.  Might have to take the upper bumper stop off to get extra clearance. 

About tightening up the bolts on the suspension control arms till  after the weight is on the suspension, That is just so when the car is sitting level, the rubber in your new bushings isn't already twisted to one side and is centered.  That way the parts can move up and down from the neutral position without tearing the rubber.  Rear leaf spring rubber from front hangers and rear shackles are the same way. Lower the car before tightening everything up.

Thank you everyone for your help, the problem fixed it self. Re-adjusted the adjuster bolts today and put the car on the ground and every thing was fine.I guess since the suspension was put together months ago everything needed time to settle.
