    I have an '82 318.

    what difference is there in say a '73 318

    pretty compatable or not? :undercar:

    The 318 was made for many a year. The horsepower numbers varied as the pollution control stuff was added, but in answer to your question... yes, they are compatible.

    Not too much different.  The 82 willprobably have better heads.  If they are the 302 heads then you are in great shape. 

    As mentioned the 82 probably has some additional smog features, but most of those can be altered, modified, or removed to improve performance. 

    What is your target?

    A slight change in the intake manifold for the newer A/C compresor, air injection holes in the head could be there as well. A slight drop in compresion is probable.
    Power still made easy though.

    got a 318 from an 82 Dodge van...was thinking of looking for an A body to drop it into...no real plans yet, but was thinking out loud to myself again :) :bigsmile:

    LOL, I did the same thing. Took out a 318 in favor of a 400. Now I say to myself, what to do with this 318, hummmmm, Oh look, a Duster with a /6. Hummmmm.
