cool bead roller tool for metal lines
« on: April 09, 2006 - 09:10:18 PM »
I have found myself on more than one occasion needing to fabricate fluid lines to replace old rusty lines. The one thing I could never do was put a bead in the end of a tube to reduce the chance of hose "blow off".

When I worked on airplanes I had used a tool set by Parker that would bead every size aluminum or steel tube all the way down to 1/4". The set was designed for the aircraft industry and worked very well. They are being reproduced by Aircraft Tool Supply and are about $400/set.  I happened to find a set on Ebay and picked them up. I am now reminded of how well they work. The case they are in is made of Bakelite and is an antique by itself. Most people wont even know what these are used for. If you see a set at a flea market pick it up. They are bringing over $100+ on Ebay. I will have to snap off a pic of some of my beaded lines!

I use the double flare kit to put a bubble on the end of a line to stop the hose from blowing off under pressure

Yes that is Cool and wish I had one because it was built in the :wavingflag: USA, Not like these cheap one built in China or Tiawan that don't hold up under the pressure :villagers:
