vin rivets

Going to replace the dash pad soon. Do I need to find some new rivets or will it work to grind off the the rivets from the back push them thru and try to save them and maby glue them and the vin plate down. Any ideas on this?

rosette rivets usally show up on e-bay from time to time. I would use new rivets

I have some new rivets that a Chrysler worker gave me but when it came time to move my VIN, I did what you just said.  From the backside, look at the rivets. If they are hollow you can squeeze them to collapse the tube enough to push then out of the top. If they aren't hollow, because the piece of rivet is still in there, use a pin or tiny brad to knock it out from the top first.  If you grind it off, it'll be short. If you do it this way, you could use a new rivet shaft on your old rosette head.

Good idea, I will give it a try. It would be a lot easer if ma mopar would just sell me some. OR if the supplyers would just reproduce them they gota know floks need um for there restos.

I don't think they supplied them due to car thefts. Could probably make some money if you had them made off-shore.
