high amp alternator upgrade
« on: April 22, 2006 - 08:25:53 AM »
Am going to upgrade to a newer Mopar Denso alternator and need some advice. The new alts location will be VERY close to the head and it seems like it would be best to make a pigtail lead that would exit out the side of the unit. What type of quick connector could I use for the main lead that would be rated for the high amperage?

Cole Hersee has a variety of generic plugs to match different applications
make sure the firewall plugs are not corroded & you may need to shunt some of the load past the ammeter to keep from frying it if the output is very high amperage

Yup - I plan to run a large lead over to the starter solenoid. I proabably will replace the large AWG firewall run going to the ALT. The existing wire is so stiff it is probably deteriorated and will have too much resistance
