« on: April 24, 2006 - 06:57:18 PM »
The bell arrived today and looks to be the correct one, although i haven't dry fitted it yet. There is a chip in the inside of the bell, looks like to me it where the starter shaft end is,will this chip be a problem(It probably will with my luck, lol)

Darn Moparnut, You can't win can you? Try dry fitting your starter in that mount and see how it fits in the hole. That probably didn't happen during cranking but during a bad starter installation. Somebody probably didn't hold the starter flush when they started tightening the bolts down. It's aluminum so it can be tig welded if it's a problem but I don't think you'll have any.  They'll probably take it back since it's broken.

thank you Chryco and Shelby.I do have 2 mini starters for both cars.I checked the bell last night and it is the right one and the casting numbers is correct that was previously posted 202507.The problem in identifying the bell is,the only place i can see the numbers is on the tranny mount flange in very small and hard to read print,it wouldnt be visible with a tranny bolted on

He sholud have told us about that chunk missing on the phone though. I found it on the NET. I'm in St. Louis, He is in Florida, so I could not inspect it before telling you about it. I'm sure that he saw it when I asked him to find the part number.

Ya i know,you would think..........
I do appreciate it very much,Its not like i am finding tons of these on epay so alls well that ends well.
St Louis, hmmm I remember being there a few times in a previous sales job, took a wrong turn at 10pm one night by the arch and barely made it out of there with my life, lol.I also remember all the 100's of cows floating around upside down after the big flood in early 90's,tragic.I did enjoy the area though and would like to see it agian when i am not working.Isn't St louis near one of the gun manufacturers?I wanted to go to the plant but ran out of time each time i was there.
