narrowed dana, tub it or not???
« on: April 27, 2006 - 02:57:31 PM »
I have a narrowed Dana 60 that I would like to use in my 74 challenger but I don't want to lose my back seat. Is it possible to do some type of altered tub while keeping the back seat. My Dana is a four link with coil overs and was set up to use 31x19 tires. I'm new to the car building world and have always wanted a pro street e body, But I'm wondering if I am going alittle extreme.
I also want to swap my auto for the 833 I have but I feel like I might be getting in over my head. The engine I have is a stroked 400.  I don't have big enough pockets to hire a shop to do all the work and would enjoy doing what I could. Any advise would be helpful.

it is possible to mini tub the car by splitting the wheel tub & moving it flush to the frame rail & then order a custom rim offset to position the tire correctly  this should allow for the back seat to remain , I am doind a 4 spd swap today , there is an article I wrote yesterday covering most of the pitfalls

chryco Psycho you mentioned you wrote a article. Which forum is it located in ?? I could only find a list mentioned in response to Tim440RT 's question.
You also mentioned the mini tub. Would mounting the 4 link brackets to the frame not be an issue ? Would'nt I have to move the frame rails in some or is that part of the mini tub ? Hang with me Psych, I'm a quick learner once I get the big picture. Thanks
