1972 Charger SE, man I love codes....
« on: April 25, 2006 - 06:40:45 PM »
I've recently found a car near where I live for sale, I told the guy that I'd buy it from him, just give me enough time to get the cash, so he said no problem, and he wasn't in a hurry about it. Now, my list of fender tag codes, has gone missing, and that just ticks me off, because now I get to play the old game of, who can help, and who can't.... :bricks1:
Anyway, this car is rare as you all shall see, here's the fender tag codes:
M31 M36 N23 N41 N42 CTD
J52 L31 L37 M21 M28
C56 G11 G37 H51 J25 J45
V1X  U  A76 B41 B51 C16
TX9 P6X9 TX9 207 204849
E68 D34 WP29 P2G ******

P31 R35 V7W 26 END
      WP29 P2G ******

Yep, 2 fender tags, actualy, it's 3, the 3rd is above the second one saying power windows....
Now here's what I know;
V1X= Black Vinyl top
H51= Air Conditioning
B51= Power Brakes
C16= Floor Console (Bucket Seats)
M21= Roof Drip Rail Moldings
The rest of them, I probably know, but those are right off the top of my head, so any help? The car originaly had a 400 and auto tran's, it is an SE, has power windows, ect.... so maybe this will help some, oh and 3 speed wipers. So, any help should be helpful, thanks.
J

Hot_rod,

Since you like numbers so much here's the numbers from a 70 Challenger I bought from brother.  I was lucky to find them in a coffee can in the trunk when I picked up the car.

M31 and M28 are the belt moldings, which go just under the car windows.  And moldings around the front leading edge of the hood and fenders.

Looks like a nice N code 383 car. I checked with my family, and they managed to borrow a Challenger when they were waiting on there '70 Charger to come in. The Challenger was a '70 Challenger R/T SE, Orange ext with White interior, and it had a 383. They wish they would ahve bought that car because they said it was nice, they also said they'd love to try and find one that's exactly like it.... So far, no luck...

Hey I got to wondering when I was looking through my book, trying to confirm that it is in deed a 400 car, here's what I'm wondering on the VIN:

WP29P2G******

WP= Charger ?
29= 2 door hardtop (sports?)
P= 400?
2= 1972
G= So where was this son made?
******= We aint gonna worry about that part, aint important, lol

So, if P= 400, then the code E68 should be the 400 code, but my book don't list either one..... I hate this book, and wish I could find my complete accurate list that I printed out, and made the changes to make it right, but I can't find it  :swear:

Either way, it's a triple black Charger.... So, it's gonna be fun, and since it came from the factory with AC, I don't have to worry about trying to install an aftermarket AC system...
