front shocks
« on: April 10, 2003 - 03:43:38 PM »
i bought a set of front shocks for my '71 challenger
but the rubber bushings is a lot fatter then the ones
that is on it now .i know over the years  that age &
wear will take their toll. but the new ones is just too
fat allso the washer that goes on top of the shock tower
& under the nut is not the same in appearnce .it will
work.i just like to have something that looks like the original.by the way the shock came from napa and the
salesman said that was the one it calls for .dont get me wrong the shock will work .its the bushings & the washer that dont look right .does any co.make a shock
with everything & looks like factory

Have you checked Year One for shocks?? As for your bushings... contact PST (Performance Suspension Technology) I believe... ::) they carry just about ALL suspension things for the old Mopar's!!! ;D

I just put a set of 'KYB" gas-adjust shocks on the front of my 71 Cuda and they work great. The rubbers and washers were a bit different than the old ones but not much. The new rubbers squeezed down to almost the same position as the old ones.
The shocks are very reasonably priced for a performance type and are very popular. You can get them at most parts outlets (Summit...ETC) or get more info on the internet..just search "KYB Shocks"
